Shotguns. Like Guns that Fire Shot?*

I'm not much of a 3-gunner (yet) - sure I can shoot my rifles to some degree of accuracy and sure I can break some clays with my shotgun - but putting it all together is a bit baffling. But even more basic than that, If I had to choose a place where my technique was lacking the most, I'd say it was with the shotgun, my experience primarily coming from the fact that I look like a dork with a riot gun, sling and cheese grater (heat shield) at the trap range.

Anyway, when John Krupa of Spartan said that he's going to run a shotgun class out at Impact Training Center in Mt Carroll, IL, I decided to get in on the game! So, if you're interested in some excellent instruction at a world-class facility reasonably close to home, maybe I'll see you there?

We've had several requests to offer our Tactical Shotgun Deployment Course again, so we will be offering another TSDC class on Saturday, August 27th, 2011 at the IMPACT Training Center in Mount Carroll, Illinois.

For those of you that have not had an opportunity to attend training at this world class shooting facility, here is a great opportunity to come out for one day of awesome training and a chance to check it out!

IMPACT Training Center is on the West side of Illinois about 40 miles South of Galena. I'll be sending out directions to the range with the reporting instructions.

Class times will run from 0830 to 1730 hours, so I suggest you consider staying at the Black Bear Lodging Facility which is right next door to the range. I recommend coming in Friday night and staying over so you'll be able to make it to class on time.

Their lodging rate is $ 75.00 per day, and you get two awesome meals (breakfast and lunch) included. The lodge allows students to return to the lodge at the end of class so they can shower and change clothes before heading home, so you won't have to worry about checking your gear out Saturday morning.

If you take my recommendation and decide to stay at the lodge from Friday to Saturday, you'll need to contact Alice over at IMPACT to make your reservation. You can reach Alice on the main office line at
(815) 244-2900, and she'll get you squared away.

For class info, equipment requirements and ammunition requirements, visit the course description page for this course.

The tuition rate is $ 170.00 per student, which includes the range fee.

I'm looking forward to another exciting class. Call me if you have any questions.
