Team Spartan's John Krupa Responds

I decided to close the comments thread on the post "Regarding Bristol" at 1:39 AM on Friday since the discussion had gotten vapid, replete with tenuous accusations and innuendo. Many lauded this decision, sending emails and commenting that it was the right thing to do.

Over the weekend, however, John Krupa, president of Team Spartan, aka Spartan Tactical Training Group, contacted me and asked if he could respond to the comment thread. After informing him that it was shut down, I offered him the chance to have his statement posted on the main blog page.

Les,

I received several e-mails and phone calls over the last couple of days from friends and former students about allegations regarding myself and my company on your blog site. I’m not a blogger; however, enough concern has been expressed to draw my attention to this matter.

I did take the time to read the posts on your site and I can honestly say that I have no idea what Pete O’Malley is referring to or talking about regarding the allegations in question.

According to Mr. O’Malley, allegations range from several red flags to two actual incidents that are apparently on record with the CCKC. I have no context as to what these incidents were about nor do I have any way to elaborate on incidents I have no knowledge of.

If these allegations have been fabricated to imply that my staff and I are running unsafe training programs, I will clarify at this time that over a 16 year period of running hundreds of training programs across the country, and millions of rounds down range, our safety record is pristine!

We have not had a single firearms related injury in ANY of our courses, nor have we had any students injured in our defensive duty knife program or force-on-force scenario courses.

The main question I keep getting is, “What’s going on between you and O’Malley?” I can honestly say that I don’t even know who Pete O’Malley is! We’ve never met. He could be standing in front of me right now and I wouldn’t even know who he is!

It might be something as simple as he may have me, or my company, confused with someone else, or he may just be doing this as a controversial marketing strategy to draw students to his website for his classes. It is unknown at this time.

The bottom line is, people see how you conduct yourself in this industry, and people that conduct themselves unprofessionally don’t last long. As you can see, we’ve been around in this industry for a long time, so we must be doing something right!

I hope the information I have provided here today answers some of the questions asked. I don’t have answers to all the questions here, but I would like to see this matter come to a close without any further controversy.

While I have the floor, I would also like to take a moment to thank everyone for the kind comments that were posted on this blog about me, my staff and our company. It is very humbling to hear and see how our training courses have impacted so many people, and it is gratifying to know that the knowledge gained from our courses has saved lives.

If anyone has any additional questions for me, please, feel free to contact me at my e-mail address listed below.

God bless all of you, stay safe and have a wonderful holiday season!

Respectfully,

John Krupa III
