Illinois Legislative Season... Spring 2012.

The good news is that a lot more folks are getting active in the sport. Soon, they'll come to question why FOID's are necessary, why the Chicago political machine is so against firearm use/ownership, why Illinois doesn't have CCW, etc.

The bad news is that the Chicago machine is making a push, now, before a lot of the new owners figure out what's happening... Things like tax increases, registration fees, titling fees, etc.

In the past I've said that WIILSHOOT tries to avoid politics - except when it comes to the very fabric of the the law influencing the future of our sports.

I'm not going to tell you which way to vote/voice your opinion - that is up to you and is a personal decision - however, I'd urge you to at least figure out what issues face Illinois gun owners:

Check out IllinoisCarry.com and ISRA.org (Illinois State Rifle Association) for up-to-date political info. The most comprehensive list can be found on ISRA's Legislative page.

Get out, make some calls, write some letters, then come out to a match somewhere and enjoy the sport/heritage that you've just helped to preserve.
